Your surnames do seem familiar. You forgot to mention the most important part, a name of ancestral village.

Patricia Skrovan Johnson: Rozboril
Tyler,
Most of the Rozboril families came from Gbely/Egbel, in the Nitria/Nitranska area of "Austria-Hungary" when Czeckoslovakia was still part of the Austria-Hungary Empire, in the LATE 1890's and early 1900-1920's.

There are MANY Rozboril families that "migrated" to Binghamton, in Broome County, New York. Mine came to Cleveland, OH. The NY and OH Rozboril families are somehow related, as my Dad, b. 1910 often referred to the NY Rozborils as cousins. The name is also sometimes spelled RoSboril, and MISspelled in many ways!

I do not have a Martin Rozboril in my files, but he may be part of the NY Rozboril families. There was a Martin, indexed as Rozporil, age 30, who came through Ellis Island on May 05, 1909. He was married, and was headed to his brother, Michal in New Cumberland, WV.

There was a 1990 census of names done in Poland but no ROZBORIL or ROZPORIL. www.herby.com/pl/herby
By Check (Czech) is this a generic term for Czechoslovakia?
If you want to proceed with the research, you need to locate a place of birth for your ancestor that came from the "old country".

I am not related to you. I do not have ROZBORIL in my family line.
I thought that I did write that there are ROZBORILs in Slovak Republic and Czech Republic. You need to locate a name of a town where your ancestor was born in order to proceed with the research or to connect with others.

Patricia Skrovan Johnson: Rozboril
Tyler,
I am happy to know that the latest generation,(YOU) still has an interest and a curiosity, about FAMILY origins. And yes, begin by asking your Parents and Grandparents. The things they know will amaze you. It is a wonderful way to bridge the age gaps! And You may just SHOCK them, by letting them know, that you are interested in more than just computers, sports, and girls! :)

We, you and I, are SOMEHOW, "distant" cousins. I will keep your Martin, in mind when I am searching for family clues, and I will let you know if I find any info on him.

Good Luck in your quest. God Bless.

Patricia Skrovan Johnson: Rozboril
Marcelo,

I have a "Missing" Anton Rozboril, born about, 1887, in
Gbely, Nitria area of Ausrtia-Hungary, later to be known as
Czechoslovakia, and later, Slovakia.

This Anton, would be the younger brother of
my Grandmother, Sophia.

He arrived in the U.S. on 27 April 1904, age 17, via
Ellis Island, NY, NY. Departure from Bremen, Germany, aboard the ship: Barbarossa. The ship's manifest indicates his destination as his father, Anton Rozboril at 82 Corwin Street in Cleveland, Ohio. He seems to be travelling with a cousin, Suza Hizsa.
His Father, Anton, born about 1846, died in Cleveland, OH
29 January 1917, and is buried at Calvary Catholic Cemetery,
in Cleveland, OH.

I can find no further information on this "younger"
Anton, and I am wondering if YOUR Antal/Antonio may be my Grandmother's brother. There were 6 known children of the elder Anton and his wife, Elizabeth Knotek Rozboril, inc.
Anton, bca 1887. He is the only one unaccounted for.

Ellis Island Records do not tell us if someone
LEAVES the U.S. after their arrival. Do you know the approximate date of birth for YOUR Antal/Antonio?
I can only hope this is my Grandma's brother.
I would like to know that He made a happy life
for himself.

God Bless.

Hello- just found this website. My great-grandmother Josefine and her sister Johanna were from Gbely. Johanna married Stephen Kocik and moved to Binghamton. There they had 8 or 9 children! They lived on Charles St. I believe Johanna's granddaughter is still there.

Hi...I just got your message in my email.Thank you.
Stephen Kocik is a brother of my great grandfather John.
I have Stephens family tree. I have Johanna listed as Johanna beinhocker, born 1871,died 1949, immigrated 1890.
[Stephens death certificate has her name as Johanna "Jennie" Bayhasher.]
They did have 9 children. You are right, thier granddaughter,Evelyn Aton still lives in the original home on 41 Charles Street. I grew up in Binghamton. You can email me direct also at lkocik -a-t- comcast -d-o-t- net
One sad note; There is a web site of the holacost victims, and it lists a lot of Bienhockers from Gbely. It tells the date, what camp,if they survived and even who ended up with thier property.
