Karen: Rzehak
I am looking for information on my husbands mother's family.
His mother was Elisabeth Mathilde Rzehak, b. 24 Apr. 1927 in Oberaltstadt, Kreis, Trantenau, Czechoslovakia. Her father was Johann Rzehak married to Anna Thom(his second wife). Their family left Czechoslovakia for Germany during WW2. If anyone
can help, I would appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Karen

Do hope that you also posted on some Czech Republic boards whether Ancestry or Genforum.

www.iarelative.com
www.cgsi.org
www.csagsi.org
www.ncsml.org
To locate a town in Czech Republic use : http://mapy.atlas.cz but first we have to get the correct/ present name.
A good locator www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm
is locating this Oberaltstadt as being Horni Stare Mesto.
This village is now part of a town of Trutnov.
A surname REHAK lists in town of Trutnov's phone book. Do you have any original papers? Does the R have an diacritical marking ^ (upside down)? If yes then your Rzehak is Rehak. http://phone.quick.cz

Vogt: Re: Rzehak
Zlatica

I will check these other sites out and I have found the village on older maps, but did not have this new name. The only document that we currently have is my in-laws marriage certificate and their is no diacritical marking on it. I will attempt, however, to pick my husband's brains for information he may not be aware of that is tucked away in his memory. In the meantime I will look at both of these spellings. Thank you.
