| Kathy Cox: Surname Sargavy | | Kate, Where do you live? Do you live in Slovak Republic? Or do you live in the USA? I think that everyone in the US is probably related because Sargavy seems to be a rare name even in the Slovak Republic. My Great Grandfather came from the town of Trencin, Slovak Republic, but he was born in Dreitoma. There is an engineer in Dreitoma with the surname Sargavy who is probably also related. The 1869 Hungarian census is not transcribed for the Trencin Megye and may be lost in a fire so I will have to write the person in Drietoma to see if they can find the family connection. I do not know the names of either my maternal set of Great, Great Grandparents of either the Stanek(Stanik, etc) or of the Sargavy family. I am assuming that my Great Grandfather had brothers or male cousins with the Sargavy name. Other than in this specific area of Trencin and Drietoma, I find no other Sargavys in all of my research. My Grandmother Julia Sargavy had two brothers who also were in this country (USA). Their names were Stephen (Stefan) and Julius. My Great Grandparents were Andras (Andrew in USA)Sargavy and Carolina Stanek. Are we related? Probably, based on the fact that there are so few Sargavys in the world. Please reply to ckjgo1 -a-t- msn -d-o-t- com and we can discuss this further. If you are from the Slovak Republic, then I would love to find out information about my GG or G Grandparents. I also know that my GGrandfather was a furrier in Trencin before he left to come to the US and I also have the information on the boats taken and about their lives here in New York City (I live in Florida). He also became a furrier in New York city. I think that's all I have for now, but let's talk. Kathy Cox |
