Josef SCHARDL emigrated to the United States in 1907 arriving in New York, 06 February 1907 on the "Kaiser Wilhelm II." He made his residence in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. In St. Louis he married Bertha Wilhemina MUND, on 30 January 1913. Bertha was born 17 March 1893, in Austria the daughter of Alois MUND of Austria.
Josef and Bertha had two children: Bertha Wilhemina SCHARDL, born 1913 in St. Louis, Missouri and Joseph Michael SCHARDL born 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri.
