cezanne: family name

I have happened upon thi web site by accident. Now that I am here can anyone tell me if the surname Scheeser is hungarian. I have always been told it was German. Now all the elders of the family are passed and I now since finding this page need to see if Scheeser is a name from one country or the other unless these name roam all over the eastern European area. Thank you for your help.

Take a look in Ellis Island website if there were any SCHEESERs that passed thru.

hi, we think it's Bavarian. we can trace US Scheesers back to John, born 1801. I have a doc with pretty good detail if you'd like.
