I am searching for information on the Scheib family from Bacsalmas. Particularly Barbara Scheib b. 1860 who married a Joannes Horvath in 1882.

Hi,
My grandma on my mother's side has this family name and she was born in Bacsalmas. Her father's name was Marton Scheib, he was a music instrument maker. I think that Marton's mother's family name was Walter, but I have to check this to be sure. Later my grandma's family moved to Baja and this is where most of her relatives live today in Hungary. There are some more distant relatives that I know of living in Szabadka that is now in Croatia (former Yugoslavia). I will ask my grandma whether she remembers hawing Barbara among her father's relatives. Good luck with your search!

Hi Andrea,
I have some family records showing Barbara Scheib had a brother named Martin b. 11/11/1858 in Bacsalmas. He married Katharina Weinacht on Jan. 16, 1883. Could this be your relative? I am also showing that Barbara and Martin's parents names were Georg Scheib and Magdalena Beck. They had other children Anton, David. I also have information on Barbara and Martin's grandparents and many other Scheib relatives. I know Barbara and my great grandfather Johann (Janos) Horvath moved to Bajmok. Where is Baja? Is it near Bajmok? Let me know if you are interested in seeing the other Scheib family information I have.
