My grandfather (my father's father) was named Janos Somoskovy and emigrated to Cleveland Ohio in 1923. I've never been able to find anyone else with the surname of Somoskovy. I would be curious to know if there are any other Somoskovys out there.

Zlatica : Somoskovi
Ilona

If your Janos was Magyar / Hungarian than that spelling does not seem correct. This could be americanized version.
Was he from the same Baja area as your other ancestor?
I just looked in Ellis Island website and I see that your ancestors are the ones that show up.
Your ancestor Ilona was naturalized citizen. You can request her naturalization petition and see what the spelling is on the paper.
Went back to Ellis Island website and used www.stevemorse.org to locate an EI manifest in One Step and specifically looking for similar spelling /misspelling of the surname Somoskovy from the town Baja. The town of Baja's phone book is listing a spelling very similar to yours (I do not have the proper diacritical markings but you can look in the phone book yourself) SOMOSKO(two dots on the O)VI. " SOMOSKOVI "

MPB: Re: Somoskovi
The "i" and "y" endings on a name can be interchangeable. The "y" ending often indicates nobility. Somoskövy is a perfectly valid spelling for this Hungarian name.

Hello Somoskovy Istvan,
Thank you for responding. Do you speak English? I looked at your website, but could not figure out how to contact you that way. Unfortunately, I do not speak Hungarian. I also speak Spanish (it comes in handy here in California) but that probably won't be of much help!
Do you have any relatives who came from Baja?
Thank you. ~Ilona

Zsolt: Somoskövi
Tisztelt Családtagok és Kutatók!

A bácskai nemesi családok történetét kutatom, így a Madarason és Bácsalmáson a XVIII. század legvégén letelepedett Somoskövi-Somoskeőy családét is. Családfájukat az 1920-as évekig levezettem, érdeklődökkel e-mailban szívesen megosztom, és én is várok új adatokat!

Tisztelettel: Gáspár Zsolt
