There were 25 STETKAs, 5 STETKOs, 6 STETTKAs that passed thru Ellis Island to America. Possible some could be distant relatives of your ancestor

Yes, you are right, some of these Stetkas are my relatives. Some emigrated from Senica and Modra to US. I have them in my familytree. There are more Stetkas in Czech republic, of which I have no details.

My grandfather Charles Stetka went to the USA and lived in Baltimore, Maryland. He and his wife Jenny had many children. There are lots of Stetka's in Maryland and we are all related.

Hello, I stumbled onto this site and as luck would have it I am a Stetka. I believe I am the grandson of the Frank C. Stetka listed in this message board. I have often wondered about our Lineage and what generation I would be. My family resides in Maryland though I live in California at the moment. Stetka is not very common surname in Slovakia and Czech republic. It is reproachful surname. Do you know what it is mean? Try to ask some Slovak or Czech in US ;o)

Hello! I havent checked this site in a long while but I am glad to see there are still stetkas checking it out. My father John Stetka is supposed to be putting together a CD of all sorts of stetka history. As soon as i recieve a copy ill do what I can to get you other stetkas the information. This is a picture of me during a visit to Japan. I would like to see pictures of you all too, and I would love to see photos of Slovakia and the Czech republic.

Hello! Yes I have done a little traveling and I am hoping to do so much more. I would love to see eastern Europe. I mainly want to travel to Slovakia and the Czech Republic and I have always wanted to visit Romania. I am in the United States Marine Corps now so I move around a lot but hopefully my time in the military will give me a chance to see and experience the world. which address would you like? I know some genealogical data of Julius Stetka.

Július Štetka or Gyula Janos Matyas Stetka was born at 29.08.1855 in Kráľová Lehota near Liptovsky Mikulas, died at 14.10.1925 in Budapešť, he was paiter (maliar)

His parents was Martin Štetka born 16.5.1824, died ?, ∞ ? mother Františka Brtany ?-?

I don´t know if Gyula had any family, wife or children. Maybe he was single.
His origin was Slovak and I think he was asimilated in Hungarian background.
His father´s brothers was timber businessmans I think.
I have no circumstances about them.

Hi, my maiden name is Julia Stetka. I live in Toronto, Canada and am 1 of 6 children born to Jan and Kathleen Stetka. Jan was born Aug 3rd, 1919 in Czechoslovakia and died in Corner Brook Newfoundland in 1982.

My oldest brother, also Jan, now lives in Bakewell, England.

His oldest son is also Jan Stetka .. and the name continues...

Hi .. Its Amazing to see all these people and stories about Stetkas ! I am a Stetka too .. my Mother (Terri Olga Dragon) married Ken Stetka and he adopted me .. so I became George Stetka !! I am looking for family members of Birner Gabriella, she was an artist who was born in Sátoraljaújhely in 18 Sep 1903. She got married to Stettka Jenö who died before 1945. According to some stories they had 5 children. gabriellas parents were Gruman Matild (1867-1905) and Birner Viktor. After the mother's death Gabriella and her 6 syblings were adopted.

My grandfather was Paul Stetka who emigrated from Yablonitsa with his family and passed through Ellis Island in 1908 and settled in Cliffside, N.J. He produced 7 children who lived, others died in childbirth. They all had the initials S.S.--Sam, Stanley, Svetimir, Steve, Sodonia, Stephanie, Sylvester, Sylvana, etc. Sadly, they are all gone, but we grandchildren survive with our children. So, the diaspora continues. Cousins in the family have the last name Bernas. Do you know any of our possible relatives in Slovakia?
