James

You need to locate a name of a town in order to proceed. Take a look at Ellis Island website at the manifests of the 6 SUPLATs that passed thru that port to America.

A surname S'UPLATA lists in Slovak Republic's phone book.

I have no experience researching in Canada but basically the same way as in USA. You need to locate a name of a town in order to proceed with the research into the "old country".

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing Roman Catholic church records of Conoplja. You can order them and gather ancestral information.
Serbia's phone book is not listing a surname SUPLAT in Sombor, Conoplja (Sombor). That is the only place I looked.
www.telekom.yu/SiteTelekom/Default.htm
If you use One Step/Gray in locating an Ellis Island manifest www.stevemorse.org there were 250 people from Csonoplya and among them a SUPLAT, Joef .
