	szigriszt 013-014: my surname Hello.MY name is Antal.Like my surname, my name is hungarian.But I'm spanish and I only know that my greatgrandfather(Antal Szigriszt, like me) was one of the three first electronic ingeneers in XX century. please HELP I'm looking for information about my origins. 	sinilos: Re: my surname Hi Antal, I´m spanish too and one of my lastnames is szigriszt as well. I have some information about the origins of our last name, even a copy of a coat of arms (heraldic) dated from 1580. I can serch it and scan it for you if you want. What I know about the szigriszt´s in Spain is that my greatgrandfather came to Spain from Hungary to work as ingeneer in north Spain. He got married to a spanish women (from La Coruńa) but the stablished in Castro Urdiales and Bilbao. He had four children (two boys and two girls) and he died tragically of pneumonia after helping to extinguish a fire in a neigbourhs house. Another curious thing is that his father (my great-great-grandfather) founded the first kindergarden of Europe. He has a commemorative plaque in Budapest. 	verus: Re: my surname Hi! The founder of the kindergarten at Pécs, Hungary, József Szigriszt is my great great great grandfather too! That's the building of it (found this picture on the net). My great grandfather changed his name from Szigriszt to Uri, later Ury. His reason, as far as I know, is that the family originated from a Kanton in Switzerland called Uri, during the reign of Maria Theresa in the 18. century. His grandfather, József Szigriszt, who founded the kindergarten had a big house in Pécs, I think they used to be a wealthy family, with a roofed bowling alley and a tennis court - this is past now ofc. Also, the same family founded the singing club in Pécs, and stood a cross in Mecsek (a mountain near Pécs). I have to add, Szigriszt doesn't sound as a hungarian name (for me, and I am Hungarian). The first Sigrist was Nicolaus in Nagymaros. He married 1775.05.02. His wife: Regina Hoffman. There is some Antal (Antonius) in our family tree. Megyözödésem szerint mindkettönk eredeti neve Sigrist.Valószinü Rajnamenti dél Németországi származásuak a Sigrisztek túlnyomó része. Az én öseim az 1700-as évek közepén telepedtek le a Dunakanyarban, Nagymaros és környékére. Az elsö ismert ösünk Nicolaus Sigriszt 1770 ben nösült Kismarosról Nagymarosra.
