Szolis: Szolis Family

I would love to hear from any Szolis' in the world. I have been working on the Szolis family history for about a year now. The Szolis' I have found were from Hungary, Poland and the United States. Most of the Szolis' that lived in the United States were in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. Please send any additional information. Thank you.

Here is the story of our Szolis family as told to me by my Great Uncle Mike Szolis.
Three Szolis brothers came to the United States after their parent from Poland were take. The brothers (John Peter, Joseph and Michel) were working on the family farm in Poland one day when they saw from a distance their parents being taken away. With some questions they found that their parent were taken by the government and would be sent to work on a farm in Siberia. The three brother then left Poland and their sister stayed with a neighbor and later married there in Poland. The three brother eventually made it to the United States. Michel may have made it to the United States first. Micheal married Mary Wos. Joseph came the United States and went back to Europe were he married and joined the military in hopes of finding his parents again. John Peter, who is my Great Grandfather, came to the United States and married Theresa Huebner. John Peter came to the Unites States after stopping in Dunafoldevar, Tolna Prov., Hungary were his Grandparents were when they were young. The family there spoke a differnet language, but were able to help him get to America. John came to the United states possible for the second time on the ship Maasdam in March of 1901. John was born in Makow Maz., Poland about 1881 to Magdelina Milewska and John Szolis Sr.

I would love to hear to from any Szolis' to exchange photos, documents and information.

Zlatica : Re: Szolis Family
Hi

Not a Szolis and not researching any of your surnames mentioned, just want to help with some websites.

In 1990, in Poland there were 5 SZOLISs and 17534 MILEWSKIs (Milewska is a female).
www.herby.com.pl/herby

Some sites on researching in Poland :
www.halgal.com
http://maxpages.com/poland
www.sggee.org/index.html
www.galizien-online.de
www.genealogienetz.de/reg
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
http://vivisimo.com
www.google.com

www.pilot.pl is locating a town named Makow Mazowiecki.
The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed church records, so check their site to see if they have of Makow Mazowiecki.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :

to locate Dunafoldvar.
A good locator is :
