	T. Szönyi : Szönyi 's in Khust, Ukraine About 1900 my father, Joseph Szönyi, was born in Huszt (now Khust, Ukraine). Part of his family left for the United States (U.S.) but many stayed in that region. His father was Istvan and his mother Zsuzsanna. It would be nice to find my cousins in Eastern Europe. Part of the family left from 1904 to about 1919. I do not read Hungarian but could try to understand any replies in another language. 	Liza: Re: Szönyi 's in Khust, Ukraine My last name is Szonyi as well - but my father was born in Mohacs. Interestingly enough, my Mother was Ukrainian and I have been to Khust, but didn't know that there were Szonyi's there. I wonder if we are related. I work within the Ukrainian community and speak the language fluently. I will see what I can find out about Szonyis in Khust if you like. 	Olayan: Re: Szönyi 's in Khust, Ukraine Liza, I just came across your old post. If your father's name is Leslie (Laszlo) Szonyi,b. in Mohacs, then you are related to a few Szonyi's in New Jersey. You have a half brother from your dad's first marriage, plus his offspring. Let me know if you are interested in making a connection or get more info on them. Had two lovely daughters by his beautiful wife Larissa (Ukrainian born): Liza and Anna. I wonder if this could be the same man through whom God chose to bring us into being?
