| Gilbert: Tancabel Geneology | My father was born in Croatia and came to the USA at age 7 when World War I ended along with his mother. My father's father was working in northern Minnesota.
My father married an Italian lady and they had 3 children - two daughters and a son. I am the son (age 63) and one sister lives in St. Paul, Minnesota and the other lives in Gilbert, Minnesota.
I have an uncle in his 80's who knows more about the family history. My uncle spoke Croatian in his home as a young boy. When he visits Croatia, he speaks Croatian with our relatives. I have been to the small town where my father spent the first 7 years of his life - near Optaija. I enjoy visiting Croatia. The Tancabel family still owns a home in the area.
