Using One Step to locate an Ellis Island manifest there were TANGLs/TANGELs that came from Bardhaza.

WinonaWW: Re: Tangel, Tangl
You will find another Bardhaza in Romania--but that's a different one. The word's roots lie in the notion of metal or sword/blade making, so the Sudenland Germans who were skilled in metalworking apparently went to two different places. The last I knew, some controversy was still in play about who came from where--they had Barbara Tangel and several other realtives I knew personally from the Bardhaza in Romania, which is impossible. Yes: this one is only a little east and south of Uzgorod, now in the Ukraine. Who are you and what interest do you have in Barbara Tangel (now deceased, but married to Jozef Andrew Winkler, also from Bardhaza)

. . . by which I meant that I know and am related to the Tangels and Winklers and Schins from Bardhaza in Bereg, near Uzgorod; however, some records-keepers have these families listed as having lived in Romania, which is impossible. Hope that helps.

bmaurer: Re: Tangel, Tangl
Through the Ellis Island records, I found information about Barbara Tangel who my dad is convinced is his mother. He remembers her referencing Bardhaza, coming into Ellis Island, and the year of arrival is right. She married my grandfather- Michael Maurer in the US and together they had 7 children. He was from somewhere near where she was from, however they met here in the US. So maybe we have different Barbara Tangel. In addition, Barbara Tangel had a sibling who has relatives in Germany near Munich who I have visited. Another sibling Andrew died in New Jersey after being burned with roofing tar. Any thoughts?
