basically what you think this board is. Are you working on your family tree / genealogy than this is one of the boards.

You know that you need to locate a name of a town in order to locate distant relatives.

There were 3 TARCSONs that passed thru Ellis Island to America. You might want to take a look at the manifests.
Trajosne is actually a Lajosne (Mrs. Lajos)and Manska seems better if it was Mariska (that is how it looks to me) Both females have numbers on the manifest, meaning that they were naturalized citizens. Would need to work on figuring out the name of a town that they were from. A Tamas TARCSON was from Vittanova which is Vitanova, Slovak Republic. The town of Vitanova's phone book is listing a TARC'ON'which would be Slovak spelling of Tarcson.

Rob -
It is excitng to see a posting by someone with the surname Tarcson. I posted a topic a while back(not sure if it was this forum) putting out a feeler to see if anyone knew the origin of the name Tarcson but never received a reply.

2 of the names in the previous reply, Trasjone and Manska(that is how it looks to me too) are who we are quite sure to be our great grandmother and great aunt(Mary). There is another ship manifest that has an entry for Lajos( Louis) Tarcson on it. We are sure that he is our great grandfather who came to America about 5 years before Trasjone and Manska. I know my great-grandmother came from a town outside Szekesfehervar. Sometime in the mid to late 20's I believe my great grandmother, great aunt and my grandfather who was born in Buffalo, NY went back to Szekesfehervar until my grandfather was about 16 years old.

My brother has a copy of a family tree that I had started years ago as a school project. This has more specific dates and goes a little further back.

We have been trying to connect some the pieces of our ancestry together. Perhaps we may find that we have a common ancester along the way. I will be in touch when I retrieve the family tree from my brother.

I know that is how the names look to you and me too but that is not a correct spelling of the first names.
Take a look in this website :
www.fam.aust/topolcsany/names as I am sure your ancestor would not appreciate to have a misspelled name in the family tree.

Your welcome. Sorry, but I messed up a website. It should be: www.fam.aust.com/topolcsany/names

The LDS-Mormons website is listing a church records of Szekesfehervar. You can order the films and gather ancestral information.
www.bmi.net/jjaso to familiarize yourself with church wording.

Rob: Re: Tarcson
hey!

i´m sorry i was at hungary the last 1 1/2 months....
my relatives come from hungary but i asked my grandmother
and she said one of our family members (male) went to amerika but died there as he was very young ...
we have a family tree but it is possible that we forgot someone because my grandfather had 10 other brothers and sisters!!
he and his brothers and sisters are dead and most of their children too. as i know only my family and two others sourvived. we are living in germany, one family at hungary and one at canada.
but as i said it could be that we forgot someone...
