Zlatica : Re: Timko

To me the name of a town for Jozef, Veronika and Istvan looks like Pamlom?. I checked for similar spelling of a town for other TIMKOs and it seems they were from Pamle, Pamlin, Pamlow,Pamleny.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is listing church records for a village name Pamleny which is in the Abauj megye and in Hungary and not far from Slovak Republic's border.
The name Timko can be found in Slovak Republic's phone book.
www.zoznamst.sk
http://mapy.atlas.sk You can enlarge the map and locate Pamleny which is not far from Keresztete, Perecse.

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Abauj

Zlatica : Re: Timko
Your welcome.

Lot of misspelling on the EI but inspite of it still the workers did a tremendous job of transcribing.

Seems there are several PANYIKs that were from Pamleny that passed thru Ellis Island.

The name PANYIK and PANIK can be found in Slovak Republic's phone book.

These are not particular lists why I wrote. It is just the fact, that with that name there was a bishop, probably one of the most important one in the history of the GCChurch in Hungary.

There is a theology belongs to the Church. You can reach their and the Church's full Hungarian homepage with link to their archive and library here:

mekucsmas: Timko/Kucsmas
My great-grandfather's name was Pal Kucsmas and he was married to Mary Timko. Mary was from Udol or Ujak according to Ellis Island records. They both emmigrated from Europe departing Bremen, Germany and arriving in the US 1900. They were married in the US ( I believe??)
This is as much as I know about them. I was born, and my family lived in McKeesport, Pa., USA south of Pittsburgh, Pa.
We celebrated many traditions which seem to be termed "Carpatho-Russyn". Traditions which are sometimes, Russian sounding, Polish, Hungarian, etc.
I am interested in knowing if any Timkos have a record of any marriages to Kucsmas. Does anyone know about Udol or Ujak? Ever been there?
Thankyou
Michael Kucsmas

Zlatica : Re: Timko/Kucsmas
Michael

Now it makes sense. They married in the "new country". So than Pal KUCSMAS / KUC'MAS' was from Koromla which is in Ung megye and TIMKO was from Udol or Orlov which is in Saros megye. Actually the two villages U&O are very close to each other.
The surname TIMKO lists in Orlov's phone book.
www.zoznamst.sk
http://mapy.atlas.sk
The village Orlov is a Rusin village and you should see some pictures in this site :

www.mytarg.net
Went that way to Stara Lubovna but had no need to stop in Udol so can not help with that question.

Toketerebes, Zemplen megye, Hungary now Trebisov, Zemplin region, Slovak Republic
TIMKO surname does list in Trebisov's phone book. KONDRAT shows up in SK but not in Trebisov's or UTO 056.
www.zoznamst.sk
An ALL site for research in SK:

No doubt that the spelling you have is Toketerebes? As you know there were other towns with Terebes in the name which now the villages are in Slovakia, Romania, Poland and Ukraine.
