I am researching my family name of Tonkovich. I am told they come from Austria Hungary. Andrew Tonkovich came to USA bringing children with him. His wife died prior to his departure. This is all I have on this family.

Lisa: Re: Tonkovich
My husband is named Andrew Tonkovich.

His grandfather (Louis Tonkovich) came from the town of coastal Bribir in what is now Croatia, sometime, I think, in the 1920s. He immigrated to Montana and worked in the smelters, was a union organizer and unsucessfully ran for Congress.

We are still in contact with the family there, wonderful folks.

I don't know if this helps you. I don't have dates at hand.

My Aunt was a Tonkovich before she married my Uncle Frank Juresich. She had a brother named William, Frank, and her father's name was Frank. If I remember correctly, my aunt was born in the Iron Mt. area of Michigan and then the family moved to Great Falls, Montana. I am sure that they were Croatian. Her mother's name was Anna.

Margaret: Re: Tonkovich
My Uncle Frank Juresic married a Monty Tonkovich in 1962 and they are both deceased now. I know that my Aunt Monty said she was Croatian, that she was born in the Copper County of Upper Michigan and then the family lived in Great Falls, Montana. Monty and Frank lived in Joliet, IL. I know she had a few brothers and a niece or sister in law named Virginia.
