Nancy CRAWFORD: TRAVNIK in the Banat
I'm searching for information on the TRAVNIK family that lived in Nemet Pereg, Hungary, now Peregu Mare, Romania. They are known to have been there at least from 1872 to 1875. The names I have ar Antoine TRAVNIK, married Maria FEICHTINGER. Their known children are Josef TRAVNIK, Julianna/Julia (TRAVNIK) KLEIN, b. 1872, Maria (TRAVNIK) WINGERT,b. 1875.
Both Julia and Maria later ived in Temesvar, now Timisoara. Both Julia and Maria later moved to the USA.
I am descended from Julia.

The Romanian phone site is at :
www.whitepages.ro
There is a listing for TRAVNIK in city of Bucuresti.

www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ESE/dsinfo.htm might be of some help in your research.
www.genealogy.ro/Contributions.htm

The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910

18 TRAVNIKs and 32 FEICHTINGERs passed thru Ellis Island.
The name Travnik lists in Slovenia, Croatia, and Slovak Republic.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) is listing some kind of records from Timisoara. Might be worth to look unless you have done so already.
