bobbishc: Researching Velicskanics
Hello,

I am researching the surname Velicskanics. Looking for information related to Anna Velicskanics, known to have arrived in the US in Pennsylvania after 1900, and marrying John Bobbish (Babich) in 1903, settling in Dowell, IL USA.

Cheers,
Charlie

You need to locate a name of a town in order to proceed with the research. Do you have that?

Take a look in Ellis Island website.

There were 6 VELICSKANICSs that passed thru Ellis Island to America.
The name does have a Slavic / Croatian ring to it but the spelling is in Magyar grammar.

Thanks for the info. Based on a number of sources I have, the person I'm looking for arrived around 1900, and the Ellis Island ones were around 1906, if I remember correctly. I don't have proof of the ship she arrived on, but I believe it was in Philadelphia.

Your welcome.

Since she passed thru Philadelphia, then go to the LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) to locate the ship manifest.
