Mimi: Re: Weis Family
Where were your Weis' from? My grandfather and his siblings were from Ordarma, Hungary and came to the U.S. in the early 1900's. They settled in Western Pennsylvania. Their father's name was Moishe. The siblings were: Jacob, Samuel, Joseph, Bernat, Lena, Bashayu, and another sister. All immigrated to the U.S. except Samuel and two of his sons. Two of his daughters did immigrate to the U.S.

Mimi: Re: Weis Family
Thank you for the translation. It is possible that Sarolta was a relative. My great-uncle Samuel had two sons and two daughters and lived in Ordarma, as far as we know. His two sons remained in Hungary. One of them could have had a daughter and they could have lived in nearby Ungvar. It is something I will try to investigate. Thank you again for the posting in Hungarian and for the translation.

Paula: Weisz-Tomor-Miskolc
Hello! I am trying to find any relations of our WEISZ family- they lived in Tomor, Abauj-Torna, but were from somewhere else.
GGF and GGM- Samuel (Ha Levi) and Betti (Ungar), their children were Sandor, Bela, Miksa, Dezso and Helen.
If anyone has a connection, please write to me.
Helen was married to Elemer Schwartz.

Mimi: Re: Weisz-Tomor-Miskolc
Paula,
My Weiss' came from Ordarma. We did have a Samuel, my paternal great uncle, but he was married to Cecilia, had two sons and two daughters. Since the village was so close to Ungvar, there may have been relatives in Ungvar.
On the maternal side, my mggm's maiden name was also Weiss but I have no information about her. She may have been from Abaujvar but I have no proof of that. She married a Klein and lived in Keked, very close to Keked.
Good luck with your research.

Joyce
My grandmother, Teresa Weiss, immigrated to US in 1907. Prior to that she lived in Kenderesch, near Munkatsch in Hungary. Had uncle named Michael Weiss. Possibly another uncle named Peter Weiss. Brother named Joseph Weiss. Another brother, Ferdinand Weiss who went to Argentina. Sister named Elizabeth Weiss. Sister named Nancy Weiss who went to the Netherlands. Any information on Weiss family? Or any information on the village of Kenderesch (now Kendereske in Ukraine)?

Joyce: Re: joseph weiss
Paula, I don't know if my Josef Weiss lived in Budapest and married there, but, I think he probably lived and married in or near Kendereske, Hungary (now Ukraine). His family later lived in Deutsch Kuchava, Czech. Are you familiar with any in the Weiss family who lived in Kendereske? or Kuchava, Czech. (now Ukraine, I think)
