| Hi,
I'm another Gerlei from Hungary living in Budapest. To add one more turn to the i/y question, I happen to know that my great-grandfather had his name with y but my grandfather used it with the i. In the troubled 20th century in Hungary sometimes it was an advantage, somtimes a disadvantage to have a y at the end of your name (sounds weird, isn't it) so some people decided to switch. It could just as well be the case that the great-grandfather of my great-grandfather had his name with an i. | ||
