| Hello Susan:
Thank you for your e-mail. I originally wrote to Radix in Hungarian because I thought I would get more response; actually I wrote in both languages, so it paid off. I hope to find more information as well regarding my father's side of the family (Galambos) & hope that it may be helpful to you as well. My father's name was John Galambos Jr., born in Bismark, North Dakota in 1912; he died in London, Ontario, Canada in 1999. My mother's name was Mary Urban, born in Kartal, Hungary in 1920. My mother is still alive. They were married in 1940. My father's parents names were John and Mary Galambos (as well), both born in Hungary to my knowledge, in the late 1890's. I think Grampa John was born around 1899 & Gramma Mary around 1890 or so. They had 7 children, one of which was my father John Jr. Dads siblings & where they ended up living are as follows: Julia Juhasz (Szada, Hungary), Mary Uni, Alex Galambos, Andrew Galambos (Leask, Saskatchewan, Canada), Steve Galambos & Hilda Kiss(Welland, Ontario, Canada), and John Jr.- my Dad (Rodney, Ontario Canada). The family moved back to Szada, Hungary when my Dad was 2, around 1914. Then I think they either went back to the states for a while, but eventually ended up settling as home-steaders in Leask Saskatchewan, where my dad met my mom at the same church they attended. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other relatives...people didn't talk much back then, so I lost a good chunk of my geneological history. I did know my uncles & aunts children, at least those who lived in Canada, but didn't get to know any of my Hungarian relatives, until 1972 when I met my Aunt Julia Juhasz & her husband & children. That's about it...I am trying to establish how long my father was in the states & am trying to find more relatives as well. Hope this helps...feel free to contact me any time. Terry | ||
