	Michelle: Family History hi there, I am trying to find my Haungarian roots, and I am searching for anyone with info on the surname BALOGH. i realize that this is a very common last name, but I am looking for a few generations of Andras (andrew) Balogh's born in Dámóc, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, Hungary. The name BALOGH does list in Damoc's phone book. Possible distant relatives? www.matav.hu/tudakozo The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) website is showing as having in their files a Greek Catholic church records from Damoc. 	tgoldutah: Bogner in Brestovacs I have family that immigrated to the USA from Brestovacs which on the map I have {family drawn} is in Yugloslavia north east of Franzfeld. In our history this town of Brestovacs is always refered to Austria- Hungary. I am having trouble finding a "real map" of the region. I also need help in tracing genealogy in that region for the Bogner family. Jacob Bogner was born in 1835 to Katharine Ruckgaber. They lived and died in Brestovacs, Austria- Hungary, but their grandchildren were the immigrants that came to the USA during the years 1905-1920. I have history from Jacob Bogner {1835} to me, but I don't have any information about Jacob's ancestry. All I have is that he was a "prosperous hemp merchant". Possible some ancestors came to America. My grandfather Andras Balogh was born and died in the Banat area,village DEBELYACSA...in North Serbian area called Vojvodina (it was part of Hungary before).He had 4 kids with Eszter Kerekes- my mom is the third child(born in 1941). Mostly hungarians lives there, and the Balogh families did come from Hungary long ago. I speak hungarian, english and croatian, as I grew up in Croatia- now in Vancouver, B.C. 	randyjb54: Re: Family History I am a Balogh. From what I have uncovered, my grandfather Daniel Balogh originated in Nagyleta (now Letavertes) near the Romanian border, SE of Debrecen. He married Julia Nagy. Daniel came to America at age 17 in 1907, returned to Hungary, then emigrated to Donora, PA in 1914 at age 24 with his bride, who was pregnant with my father, Joseph. They returned to Hungary, with my father, after WWI, staying a couple of years, then returning to Donora to settle permanently in the U.S. I have learned only in the last few years from my aunt that Julia had a child out of wedlock prior to marrying Daniel. I am told this child, my aunt, was adopted/raised by an aristocratic family. She would have been born around 1912, give or take a year or two. 	Geramita: Balough family My Great-Grandfather was Charles Balough. He was born on February 13, 1883 in Megye to Albert Balough and his wife Sarolta Sari Szechenyi. The couple also had 7 other children. Charles came to the U.S. in October 1903. I am interested in finding the Hungarian ancestors. Albert and Sarolta remained in Hungary until their death. Albert's mother's maiden name may have been Bier, and Sarolta's father's first name was Martin.
