| chodur: researching Chodur | | I am researching my grandfather's family in Slovakia. My grandfather was Paul Chodur, his father was Janos Chodur. Paul married Anna Jakab from the same area of Slovakia when they emmegrated to Chicago in the early 1900's. I believe they lived around Sobotiste or Pucanec in the county of Hont or Nyitra. My grandfather's family were bootmakers. They were good friends with George and Katherine Benda when they came to Chicago--also from their geographic area in Slovakia. I am just starting my research any one know these Benda's? George is deceased, Catherine in her 70's or maybe even 80; living in Chicago. |
