Our last name is Bidzilya, but it is my understanding that the family name was changed from Bidzela when he entered the US. Any informatiom would be helpful. My Granfather entered the US in 1913 on the ship named President Grant and was listed as Mihaly Bidzela. 	Zlatica : Re: Bidzilya family tree It is my understanding that Bidzilya would be in Magyar / Hungarian grammar and thus Bidzila in Slovak grammar. 10 BIDZILYAs, 7 BIDZSILYAs, 3 BIDZILAs,1 BIDZELA and 3 BIDZILLAs passed thru Ellis Island. To locate an EI manifest in One Step use : www.stevemorse.org No village with the spelling/name Derkofelva.(falva would be correct). It could be Dragabartfalva or Davidfalva. Both villages are in Bereg megye and in Ukraine. The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at : http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 Your ancestor was naturalized citizen. He has his numbers and date on the manifest. No phone listing for Bidzela or Bidzila in Slovak Republic. The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) were not allowed to film the church records of Ukraine. Even if the village was at one time in Czechoslovakia but the records stayed and are in Ukraine. You can post what else you know but I would recommend that you also post on Ukraine's Genforum and Ancestry board. Make up a Bidzilya/ Bidzila family board. I have been e-mailing Yuriy Bidzilya in keiv also about my Father. Do you know Yuriy? I have many questions on my Fathers relatives in the Ukraine, He was born in Deskoviscja ( spelling may be wrong) Hope you can e-mail back any information you may have. 	TANIA: Re: Bidzilya family tree my grandma's name is Marta Bidzilya and she still lives in Deskoviscja, Ukraine. She is the younges of 12 children and is currently 87. She had oldest brother who left for US, and never came back. As far as we know he married an american lady and had 3 sons. We had an information that he died, but lost all the contact with his family. I currently live in US and my parents came to visit, so we decided to do some research for our family tree. We went to Ellis Island and also found what we think is his arrival record.
