Hi - I'm an american-born Boysza as well.

My grandfather was Steven Boysza. I believe he and his brothers and sisters imigrated from Hungary if I remember correctly. I know he spoke with a accent. He died when I was very young (1977). My Boysza family graveyard is high on a mountain in Windber, Pennsylvania. Serveral Boysza's and Bojsza's are burried there. My father (Larry Boysza)told me quite a bit, but I need to check with him again to get the story straight.

Some years ago I ran into a fellow my age (at the time). His last name was Boysa. His name was Tim and he had told me his family was from PA, also some in the coal mining trade (like my grandfather and his brother, Paul).

Someday I'd like to take a trip back to my fathers home town and take some photos and rubbings of my ancestors gravestones.

I should note that according to my grandfather, some of the Bojsza family opted for the name change to Boysza and some didn't.

Hungary's phone site is at :
www.matav.hu/english/index.html
It is all in pronounciation : Bojsza = Boysza
A spelling BOJSA shows up in Slovak Republic.
www.zoznamst.sk
Take a look in Ellis Island website at the BOYSZA, BOJSZA, and BOJSA manifests.

Boysza: Re: Any information about Bojsza or Boysza surnames
It is so great to hear from another American Boysza working to trace the family. I am trying to follow the line of Kate(katie) and John Boysza who's son was Charlie Boysza who's son was Joel E. Boysza which is my father-in-law. I know of a Pennsylvania tie-in since some of John and Kate's children were born in Pennsylvania. Though I am currently following them through michigan since that is where they moved to and some of them died.
I have been able to locate some of their social security numbers on Social Security Death Index. The best website for that is www.LDS.org I really would like to apply to the social security office for Kate's application since that will list her parents since I know her SS#. Everything seems to take time and money and right now I am looking for information about those two. Thank-you for everyone's help. I am new at this and will eventually find a town in Hungary to research further back.
Thanks! Caryn Boysza

Thank-you for your help. I currently live in Utah, but my husband's family came from Michigan and some I can trace to Pennsylvania and maybe New Jersey. I hope to find others who have done some research on the lines in the United States or know of relatives that have immegrated. Thanks! Caryn Boysza

bboysza: Re: Any information about Bojsza or Boysza surnames
Hi Caryn. My father tell's me that HIS grandfather's name was Eugene, and his grandmothers name was Juliana - if that helps you. THEY came through Ellis if I'm not mistaken. My father also tell's me that Eugene's sister (*maybe* named Shotty?) was left behind in Hungary when they moved.

My father has I think a pretty well documented family tree that I think his sister (my aunt) put together some years ago. I'm a network/computer guy for a living - I think I may put together a website for us to tie us all together. I'm almost certain that we are all related in America somehow. From what my father tells me, Bojsa (Boysza) was a Noble's name - so it would not be a common name in Hungary.

bboysza: Re: Any information about Bojsza or Boysza surnames
Hey Caryn - me again.

Again I spoke with my father (driving him nuts calling him asking a million questions). Apparently, he has more uncles than I knew.

His uncles (son's of Eugene and Julian) were:

Geno
Eugene
Steven (my pappy)
Michael
Paul

Paul and Michael are still around. They're up there in age but I know Uncle Paul is a sweet, quiet guy. Geno died when he was 2 or so, so he had no social. BUT, I have seen his grave in the Boysza family graveyard. Eugene was obviously a Junior. My father told me that he knows of family in Montana and some even made it all the way to Washington. I talked my father into a trip to visit old PA and Uncle Paul and Mike to talk about our history.

Roberd: Re: Any information about Bojsza or Boysza surnames
Hallo,
I am from the Kaszó family and I have a strange connection to the name Bojsza.
In Somogy komitat there is a place founded by ancesters called Bojsza-Tó. It is now named Balata-Tó, in the settlement Kaszó where in the 18-th to the beginning of the 20-th century there was a covert meeting- and conspiracy place for Kossuth's allies like the count's Fórgach and Széchényi and Győrgy Festetics (the latter family being only partly real Hungarians, like Győrgy).
The name Kaszó was added to the family name of family's whom participated in the political "Tengerpárti".
But where Bojsza come's in the story I would like to know.

Greeting's from a Hungarian in Hágá, Holland.

BOJSZA: Re: Any information about Bojsza or Boysza surnames
Hi folks....I'm a Bojsza, a Polish B-O-J-S-Z-A. To clear the records, it's pronounced BOY-SHA...very close to the BO-Y-SZA spelling. I'm an American born male of this fantastic, beautiful, smart, multi-talented, handsome, (out of time, or else I'd keep going)....species, clan, Ancestry, etc....livin in the USA. Dowedzenia!

PS To prove that I'm a true Bojsza, ....(I know about the S-T-U-B-B-O-R-N)!

Hi Mike - you're cousins with my father, Skip (Larry). Your fathers brother Steven, is my fathers father. I hung out with your uncle Paul last October when I was married the same day your uncle Jim was. I was at a reunion at Gary's house about 7 years ago I think.

Keep in touch.
