silviabraun: Samuel Braun (1874-1929)
Hello!

My grandgrandfather was Samuel Braun (Sandor Barna). He lived from 1874-1929 in Budapest. His austrian wife came with the two children to Austria around 1924. The names of the children were Endre (born around 1920 to 1922) and Josef (born 1924). Josef war my grandfather. Endre came back to Budapest and died in the war somewhere in Russia. Samuel visited his family in Scheibbs a lot of times. After Samuels death, my grandmother put all the remembrance to him away. We have nothing, just the day of his death and birth and the wedding day. the wedding was in summer 1920 in budapest.
Maybe someone can help me or tell my something about my grandgrandfather and his family.

Thank you,
Silvia Braun

Silvia

If you know which church in Budapest he was baptized than you should start there. Check LDS-Mormons (Family History Center)site.

She was born in 1878 Zemplen Megye Austria Hungary
Died in 1914 in the USA.

Her son John Stanley Toth was my great-grandfather.

AlenaMari

Her son, John (Janos) TOTH his US documents do not give you his place of birth? Did you locate their arrival manifest?
How you know she had a middle name Elizabeth (Erzsebet)?
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910/zemplen.jpg In this Zemplen megye is a village Zemplen now Zemplin, Slovakia.
TOTH does show up in Zemplin's phone book but that is not a confirmation that your ancestor BRAUNA (BARNA) was born or married to a TOTH from Zemplin, Zemplin region Slovakia.

AlenaMari: Re: Mary Elizabeth Brauna
Well that is the frustrating part. My great-grandfather was very young when they arrived. We have not been able to locate what vessel they arrived on, but that it was to Ellis Island. To my knowledge he didn't have his birth certificate with him, and he never wanted to talk about it, so he said he didn't know the names of his grandparents. Originally we thought her name was Elizabeth Braun but after being on Ancestry.com I found another side of my family who had her listed as Mary Elizabeth Brauna. I think that I would need to use her original name, Erzsebet in order to find her. I did notice that their are a lot of (BARNA) 's Is it possible that Barna is her name and not Brauna?

Thanks for all of your input. It is very helpful.

You're welcome.
Your male ancestor was not naturalized US citizen? The mother and child were going to a family member in US. Maybe following that family's paper trail you might find the location. After the death of his mother who did the young son live with?
