Andrea: Domony
My name is Andrea and my mother was Marika Flora Domony born 29 January 1933 in the village of Domony. In 1956 she migrated to Australia where I was born. Marika was raised in the house which now has been converted into a hospital for the mentally ill. I have some old photos of her youth and would be most interested if anyone remembers her or any of the Domony family.

Erwin: Re: Domony
Andrea, I'm not sure but it seems the info below belongs to your family:

Brüll (domonyi). A nemességet fenti előnévvel 1882. jan. 8.

= to Miksa Brüll. March 30th. 1900 Ödön B. and sons Miksa Ede

engedélylyel B. Ödön földbirtokos és fiai: Miksa és Ede
= got the permission to change their

= family name to "Domony" (of Domony). Published 1883 in Pest county.

Leszármazás/descendance:

Andrea: Re: Domony
Erwin,
Thank you very much for this information, particularily the english translation. Miksa Domony was my grandfather. Odon Brull (Domony) was his father and Miksa Brull my great great grandfather. I dont know where Peter, Janos, Zsophia and Laura fit in. The last part of your email was unclear to me. Do you have any more information on their history????
Thank you so much for taking the time to send this information to me.
regards
Andrea

Count Gudenus: Kovarcz de Kovarczfalva

Some Eva Katharina Kovarcz de Kovarczfalva (née 1945) is supposed to have married a prince Wrede.

Does this family (Kovarcz de Kovarczfalva) exist? One does not hold: Illéssy János, A Kiralyi Könyvek, 1895

Erwin: Re: Domony
@Andrea:
hey, thats fine! Seems I could help a bit.
I found this info in a genealogy DVD from hungarian Arcanum.
Unfortunately, there was no more info. Below, I'll translate/explaine the "descendance part" a little bit more.

"Leszármazás/descendance:
Miksa. Gyermekei/children:
1. Ödön. Gyermekei/children: a) Miksa, b) Ede.
2. Mór. Felesége/wife br./baroness Kronfeld Miczi. Gyermekei/children: a) Péter, b) János.
3. Zsófia.
4. Laura.
– Vö/literature. Kősz.(=Köszeghi) 56.; MNA.(=Magyar Nemes Almanach) 23." --- means the following:
Miksa had four children: Ödön, Mór, Zsófia and Laura (1-4).
They had children, too (a), b) etc.) Especially, Mór and his wife had children Péter and János. So they are the latest mentioned descendants; Zsófia and Laura are their aunts, a generation above them.
May you could have a look into
- Kőszeghi Sándor: Nemes családok Pest vármegyében (Budapest, 1899.) = noble families of county Pest, 1899; seems the family has been noticed there
- MNA.(=Magyar Nemes Almanach) (19)23 = Hungarian Nobility Almanach, I'm not sure but think author is Bela Kempelen, edited in the years ~1910-1930.

I add a photo of Ödön's manor in Domony, Pest county. The area was about 600 "kataszter hold" that equals around 450-500 hektar.

Regarding "Mici" = Maria baroness Kornfeld, I found a bit more: Mária (*1881. okt. 8.) Férje=married to (esk.=marriage 1903. márcz. 25. Bp.) domonyi Domony Móricz dr = Dr. Moricz Domony de Domony ;-) By the way: he Kornfeld family was of one of the big "industry barons"..

Anna Brüll was the wife of Mihály Ghyczy de Ghycz et Ablanczkürth; Lory Brüll de Domony was the wife of a Laszló Fürst de Maroth (~1900); Olga Brüll of Mihály Ibrányi de Ibrány et Vaja; Teréz Brüll wife of baron Rezsö Schossberger de Tornya, again a family like the Kornfelds..

So if not already known to you a lot of info to encourage you for additional effort in family genealogy research!

Good luck and best regards, Ervin

Erwin: Re: Kovarcz de Kovarczfalva
Dear count Gudenus,

not a Kovarcz. I know a may be the larger part of nobility is noticed in libri regii! Why you don't ask your hungarian relative baron Gudenus, who is a well-known genealogist??

sincerely, Ervin
