	Harold Chipman: Descendants of Lazar Duschnitz Hello, I am a descendant of Lazar Duschnitz/Dusnitz, born 1815 in Sebes Kellemes (today Lubotice near Presov, Slovakia) and his wife Malie, born Duneitz. Lazar had three daughters (Leni Bloch, born 1844; Fani Geiger, born 1846; and Eszter, born 1848) and my great-grandfather, born 1852. He also had a brother Bernard/Bernat, born 1823, and a sister, Lotti Landesman, born 1825. I am interested in contacting descendants of these families. I also have a lot of information on other Duschnitzes from this area. Hope to hear from some you soon. 	Rachold: Re: Descendants of Lazar Duschnitz Hello Mr. Chipman, I am a researcher on the composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold (see www.lexm.uni-hamburg.de, my K-monographies for the University of Hamburg)who was a dear and lifelong friend of Rudolf Duschnitz 1886-1964 and his wife Elisabeth=Lilly, born Hammerschlag 1895-1993, disvorced, 2nd wife Marianne Schlesinger. Rudolf parent´s were Max 1850-1926 and Flora 1852-1931. His sister was Martha 1880-1965 married Engelmann (Dr. Guido, orthopaedist), his brother Paul died 1953. The only son of Rudi and Lilly= Anton/Toni, born 1922, died early from cancer. These Duschnitzs lived in Vienna at the Dollinergasse 5(parents), Schellinggasse 5 (Rudi-Lilly-couple), but there lived some Duschnitzs at the Weimarer Strasse 87 in the so-called Duschnitz-Villa whom I couldn´t identify up to now. Anything of interest for your project? Something to connect with your family tree? May be write in German? 	Martin Bitschnau: Re: Descendants of Lazar Duschnitz Sehr geehrter Herr Chipman ! Ich versuche eine Kurzbiographie von bekannten Abgängern des öffentl. Gymnasiums in Meran/Südtirol zu schreiben. Im Schuljahr 1892/93 tritt dort "Paul Duschnitz, Wien", Sohn eines Fabrikanten, in die Schule ein. Er war dort Klassenkollege des bekannten Sozialdemokaten Otto Bauer (bis 1896). Auch dürfte er meinen Informationen zufolge mit dem Arbeiterdichter Alfons Petzold bekannt gewesen sein. Können Sie mir über Paul D. näheres berichten und ist Ihnen ein Kontakt/auch Gegnerschaft zu Otto Bauer bekannt ? 	Harold: Re: Descendants of Lazar Duschnitz Guten Tag Herr Dr. Bitschnau, ich weiss nicht, ob ich Ihnen sehr behifflich sein kann. Ing. Paul Duschnitz (1882-1953) ist in Wien geboren. Er war der Sohn von K&K Börsenrat Max Duschnitz und Flora Kuffner (Ottakringer Bierbrauerei). Er war mit Anny Klemperer verheiratet (in Auschwitz 1942 ermordet). Keine Kinder. Sein Onkel Felix Duschnitz (1864-1889) war in Meran gestorben und liegt dort begraben. War Felix auch im Gymnasium? Viel mehr weiss ich leider nicht. Paul war auch kein Nachkommen von Lazar Duschnitz sondern stammt aus einem anderen Zweig der Familie. An die Beziehungen, die Sie schildern, bin ich hochinteressiert. Bitte bleiben Sie mit mir in Kontakt, ich weiss recht viel über die Duschnitz Familie, die ja in Wien sehr erfolgreich und bekannt war. Freundliche Grüsse. I am doing this research on behalf of the Goudstikker heirs for a few years. In this regard I came across your grandfather Willibald Duschnitz who had a business relationship to the art dealer Jacques Goudstikker (1897-1940). So far I know Goudstikker bought a number of paintings from your grandfather in the 1920's. As I just found out you gave a conference on the matter at the Institut d'histoire du temps présent in Paris on May 25, 2010. Do you have a summary or compilation of that? May I ask you what do you know in detail about the Duschnitz collection? Is there any inventory or any correspondence left (or an archive at best?). I am looking very much forward to sharing information with you! Ich bin interessiert an informationen ueber adolf (vater u. erbauer der villa) und willibald duschnitz (sohn und auftraggeber von loos). Willibad war ein kunstsammler und leidenschaftlicher organist.
