| Álmos: Friebeisz & Vásárhelyi | Ionut: Hello!
I was not replying to your posting of 28/7/2006. Mine was just another query regarding the Freibeisz family. Rough traslation:
One of my ancestors is Francisca Friebeisz, wife of Carolus Bene, born on 23 Apr 1783 in Görbő, a little town in Tolna province. By examining the church records in Pincehely, the nearest town with a Catholic church, I discovered that Francisca’s parents were Johannes Freibeisz and Julianna Rosty. In Ivan Ngy’s book there is a family tree for this branch of the Friebeisz family, which I attached. Ivan Nagy had this to say: “Johannes (John) II was the first of the Baranya-branch of the Freibeisz family, one of his sons Adam was the vice-governer (alispán) of Baranya province and a royal councilor, of whom one of the hills near Pécs was named “Freibeisz” hill (a region of wineyards). He had no children, but his brother Johannes II had several children including Franciscus II, who was a famous lawyer and judge. As shown in the family-tree, his son John had sons Ignácz and John, who had four daughters…”.
One of the four daughters was Francisca, possibly identical to the Francisca who was my ancestor.
I am hoping that somebody else is researching this branch of the Friebeisz family, with better results than what I have been able to obtain so far. I would like to learn more about this family and find out who were Francisca’s parents and grandparents etc.

In regards to your query of 28/7/2006, concerning Freibeisz Miklós and Vásárhelyi Vilma, I would say that if you had a little more information about them, we could probably figure our how to link them into the published family-trees for these families.
There is a lengthy description and huge Vásárhelyi family-tree in Kempelen Béla’s “Hungarian Noble Families”. In fact, I just found your ancestor Vilma on this tree:
“Vilama, sz 1858 VIII. 19. Cermőn, rajkai Friebeisz Miklós”
Her parents were: Vásárhelyi Géza (1827-1895) and szépfalvi Spech Vilma.
Géza’s parents: Vásárhelyi János (1800-1843), vice-governor of Arad province, and Brüneck Julia.
János’s parents: Vásárhelyi János (1758-1834), vice-governor of Arad province, and baroness Bánhidy Anna.
János’s parents: Vásárhelyi Sámuel, cheifjustice, and Egyed Róza.
Sámuel’s parents: Vásárhelyi Márton and Jeremiás Sára.
Márton’s parents: Vásárhelyi Ferenc (1711) and Szaniszló-Gombos Anna.
Ferenc’s parents: Vásárhelyi Sámuel and Varjú Sára.
Sámuel’s parents: Vásárhelyi Ferenc (1669) and Kozma Katalin.
The Vásárhelyi family is of “székely” origin, from Erdély (Translivania). In 1289 they received a royal grant from King Laszló IV in recognition for their services during the war against the Tartars.
There is too much information here for me write now, if you want, you could contact me by e-mail at "azob -k-u-k-a-c- olypen.com" -p-o-n-t-
