Hello Grayce,

Could "Petarda" be Ivándárda (I. Darda)? Not far from Beremend:

I surmise that my interpretation of the baptism record handwriting is way off. I will check out I. Darda

Most names I can make out because I know the name, but to read an unfamiliar word, I don't know the handwriting well enough, especially the Capitals. I am working on it though. I can't tell the difference between the Z, T, G, for starters. I will have to go back to the microfilm, now that I know that Petarda is definitely not a city.

Whoa now, I am looking at the 1828 census of Baranya and there is a city named Petarda and also I. Darda, Ivany Darda. I will now try to find both. I will try this link that you sent.

Zlatica

Hello, I appreciate the help in my Hungarian search.

I have found my Gettos in Hungary, now I am working on finding a link
to Germany.

I did find a possible link in that one family was from Königsburg,
St. Peters Styria, it is a typical immigration for our ancestors.
Possibly the St. Peters is the church they transferred membership from in Germany or Graz, Styria.

The registrar was thoughtful to add that information to the baptism
record of Maria Blasicka, born 1842 (extreme necessatate ), her
Mother, Maria KIDRIC Blasicko, listed: Kónigsburg, Styria, and in a later birth of another Maria in 1843 Styris Lansburg.

How often do we find such valuable information. I also found that the priest's surname the same as Grandfather's family in Croatia, that was a surprise.

I also wonder if the Zetovics, which were numerous, was a
misinterpretation of mine, were the Getovich/Getto? Was the Z a G?

I found that the Hungarian records are excellent as time progressed, but the 1700 records were of a handwriting that seem just lines, up and down. I will study them further, until they become more familiar to me.

I do feel that the family was not there at that time. Two options are: they were in 1828 census of Baranya, in Petarda (still looking ) or
Lantsuk. Lantsuk is 3 miles from Móhacs.

I noticed that I cannot "reply" to the emails.

Thanks for the help.

Greetings, I see you called Germany, Germania. I have other ancestors, Bauder/Bader James, on his census it listed his Father born Germania. So I did search for a Germania, and could not find any reference. So, now you confirm for me the name. It is Germany.

My relationship to Ternay.
My GGrandfather, Adam Getto, came to US, his passenger list noted that he went to stay with his Brother in Law, Joseph Ternay, in Erie, Pennsylvania, near the Great Lakes. Joseph Ternay was born 1860 came to U.S. 1907, Joseph Ternay married Elizabeth Rittlinger, son was Anthony Alexander Ternay born 13 July 1887 Austria, daughters were Helene Mary born 1890 Austria and Anna Marie born 17 Oct 1891 Austria. Joseph then married Margaretha Hellstark born 19 Feb 1859 AU-HU, daughter was Katherina J. (Katie) Ternay born ca 1893 Belisse Slavonia, Katie married John Sack (Sak, Zack, Zak) who was born 1892 Bayern, Germany.
You are right, there were many Ternays. The early records are hard to read on the microfilm, but the records are excellent with lot of data. I am continuing to search the early records in Baranya.

I am no longer searching for Ternay, I have left that search to look in Tuhelj, Croatia for Petrissich. I hoped to find the German city where the Gettos & Rieters came from. I have no documents to show their origin. Perhaps someday I will find them. I have ordered more microfilm from Latter Day Saints, Utah and will wait for that to do more search.

Here are some more of my Ternays that I found in Baranya.

I will check out the Tschatali and Csátalja/Gara in Google.
