| Grayce: Re: TERNAY | Greetings, I see you called Germany, Germania. I have other ancestors, Bauder/Bader James, on his census it listed his Father born Germania. So I did search for a Germania, and could not find any reference. So, now you confirm for me the name. It is Germany.
My relationship to Ternay.
My GGrandfather, Adam Getto, came to US, his passenger list noted that he went to stay with his Brother in Law, Joseph Ternay, in Erie, Pennsylvania, near the Great Lakes. Joseph Ternay was born 1860 came to U.S. 1907, Joseph Ternay married Elizabeth Rittlinger, son was Anthony Alexander Ternay born 13 July 1887 Austria, daughters were Helene Mary born 1890 Austria and Anna Marie born 17 Oct 1891 Austria. Joseph then married Margaretha Hellstark born 19 Feb 1859 AU-HU, daughter was Katherina J. (Katie) Ternay born ca 1893 Belisse Slavonia, Katie married John Sack (Sak, Zack, Zak) who was born 1892 Bayern, Germany.
You are right, there were many Ternays. The early records are hard to read on the microfilm, but the records are excellent with lot of data. I am continuing to search the early records in Baranya.
