valerie: Gyorgyovics, Dordovic
I'm searching for any info on Anna Gyorgyovics (or Dordovic)born July 1861 (about) and died in 1929 in CT(?). She married Janos Emriscak (or Imriscsak). Janos was born August 15, 1858 in Zemplinska(?) and died August 31, 1935 in Stratford, CT. Anna's parents were Andreas Dordovic and Dorota Ocovini. Janos Emriscak's parents were Janos Emriscak and Maria Bednar both from Zemplinska(?).

The word Zemplinska is written in Slovak grammar and it means Zemplin aka Zemplen megye during Hungary rule.
The old 1910 Hungarian megye map is at :
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Zemplen

You need to locate a precise name of a town in this Eastern region,Zemplin county in Slovak Republic in order to proceed with the research.

The Slovak Republic's phone site is at :
www.zoznamst.sk
The name D'ORD'OVIC' lists in the village of Zamutov which would be in Zemplin region.
No Imricak or Emricak but an IMRIC'KO and IMRICH.

Check out Ancestry and Genforum board for Slovakia for your surname.
Check out even Ellis Island website for your ancestral names just to give you an idea of where they were going.
An Erzsebet / Alzbeta/ Elizabeth IMRISCSAK arriving thru EI in 1911 has that she is from Finta which is a village named Fintice, Slovak Republic in the Saris / Saros megye.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records but you need to know the name of a village and religious orientation of your ancestor to order the films to gather ancestral information.
