	Hodermarszky: ancestor search My grandmother and her sisters came to America through Ellis Island in the early 1900's. Their home in Hungary is listed as Szigliget. Names are Irma, Hermina, Aranka Hodermarszky. Their father was Eduardus Emericus Hodermarszky and he was baptised in Spisske Vlacey (Szepesolaszi)in 1854. His wife was Anna Bernatyak baptised in Udol 1859. The correct placename is actually Szögliget, Abauj-Torna County, Hungary, see the corrected Passenger Record below. Her closest relative in Hungary shown sister Kaszas Kalmanne=Mrs.Kalman Kaszas in Szögliget. Her destination was sister Hodermarszky Hermina in Bridgeport. Her birthplace is shown what looks like Varanocserne, which could be Varrano-Csemernye/ aka Csemernye in the old Hungarian Zemplen County/ today in Slovakia. Is this placename sounds familiar to you? I don't know for sure where my grandmother and her sisters were born but Szogliget is listed as my grandmothers home before coming to America. If you could look up her name and her sisters I would very much appreciate any information you can find. I especially want to know her mother's name. I have heard various names from different sources. Thank you for any help you can give me. Just in case you reun across these names let me know. Eduard Hodermasky born Spisske Vachy (Olaszy) in 1854. I know he was a school teacher and organist for the catholic church.He moved around a lot with his family. 	Hodermarszky: Re: Films One more thought. My grandmother Aranka came to america in 1910 from Szogliget. Her father Eduard died about 10 years earlier. Perhaps there is a record of him being an organist in the church around 1900. I want to thank you again for your responses. I haven't done anything with my search since my husband died a year ago so even if you don't find anything you have rekindled my interest in the search.
