	rmcsc: Hrabovski I am looking for my family lineage. My mother's father was George Hrabovski (I believe this is the correct spelling, though i must admit I am not sure). He was born in America, however, the family say's his father came here from Hungary. That is all the information I have. You will need to locate a name of a village for your ancestor that came from the "old country" in order to proceed with the research. Do you know what language your ancestor spoke? That might put him into other country and not just Hungary. The name HRABOVSKY exists in Slovak Republic's phone book. www.zoznamst.sk The spelling HRABOVSZKY / HRABOVSZKI would be Magyar/Hungarian spelling and that name too lists in SK's phone book. Start with going on Ellis Island website and locating the ship manifests for HRABOVSKI, HRABOVSKY, HRABOVSZKY,and HRABOVSZKI. 	lamont_szentgyorgyi: Re: Hrabovski My mother's maiden name is Hrabovszki, and she is from the town of Sarkad in Hungary. Background is mixed, the name seems to have Slovak origin, though her father spoke Hungarian only, just a few words of Slovak. This may help you some, I hope. Good luck in your search! There should be a name of a town. http://ssdi.rootsweb.com 7 HRABOVSKIs in SSDI but no George but there is a George Hrabovsky. A spelling HRABOWSKI exists in Poland. As far as I know the family lived in Nyiregyháza, Hungary later some family member moved to Debrecen Hungary. One exact date I have is 1849. A dédnagymamám Hrabovszky Teréz /szül.:1880 körül/, Gyulán van eltemetve, anyja neve Galló Mária, férje Szentes Károly(szül.: Heilinger, csak valamikor 1900 elején magyarosította) és ezen az ágon megtorpantam.
