	paulradix: Hromis Hello Marko, I live near Cleveland, Ohio, USA. (on the border with Canada) There are 3 Hromis families in the USA. (One from Sid, one from Kucura, one from Ruski Kerestur). I know some other Hromis families in Australia. My cousins in Sid tell me that the Hromis family is very large in Croatia and Vojvodina. They tell me that I (we) have cousins in Kucura, Vukovar, Gunja, Ruski Kerestur, Kikindi, Sid etc, etc. Has your family always lived in Beograd? How is Italy? Before Sid, they were from Kucura. I live near Cleveland and Barberton Ohio. I grew up in Dayton, Ohio. This makes us distant cousins. There are a few "Old" families in Ohio from Srem/Bachka. When did you family go to Canada? What other family names did your ancestor's have? Paul Powers. 	Maxim: Rusini / Ruthenians Greetings Folks, I would love to share the facts with you regarding your last name, Hromis. The orgin of the last name goes all the way back to Slovakia / Ruthenia. The last name has nothing to do with Hungarians even less with Serbians. However, the majority of families with this last name live in Srem / Serbia. The cities are Sid, Bacinici, Kocur, Bikic, etc. ---------------------------- Na koncu scel bi da vam povem ze pase prezvisko nje Serbske abo Madjarske. Silom prilikoh mi Rusnaci nje mali svoju zem pa sme zili sirom sveta. Tereas nas isto jest vsadzi: USA, Canada, Italy, Australija, etc. Nje zabudze ze njihto nje sceka od masnih kolacoh, znaci nuzda nas nagnala da budzeme veciti nomadi. Ja zijem u Atlanti. ----------------------------------- Dobre Zelje svima sirom sveta ... Istina vezana za prezime Hromis moze samo da se nadje u korenima Rusina. 	Paulradix: Re: Rusini / Ruthenians Dobre rane-Hello Hromis in Atlanta, and greetings from your very distant cousins in Ohio. My baba's family moved from Kocur>Sid>Sharon, Pa>Dayton, Ohio. (I'm a Mudri, Lacko, and Mitrov also). My family came here during the first world war with many other families from Srem. (Provci, Bucko, Buila, Gajdos etc) Most of my cousins still live in the area of Sid. But a few have moved on to Vukuvar, Sremska M. and Novi Sad. What town (mesto) are you from? I am sorry, I can only read a little Rusyn/Rusnaci. Inace informacije o Hromisima (posto nas je jako puno) mozete naci u opstininama Kucure i Kerestura i u crkvenim knjigama. Sve je zabelezeno jos od pre 700 godina. Ove godine u Decembru drzava Srbije vraca rusinskoj crkvi te knjige pa ce onda sve informacije biti dostupne nama koji trazimo. (ovo sam saznala pre 10 dana kad je moj deda bio u Kucuri i Keresturu da trazi nase podatke). Hromisi su inace bili jedna od najvecih rusinksih porodica koja se doselila na podrucje Vojvodine, tadasnje Austro-Ugarske i do sada znam da samo iz nase loze, pre 4 generacija, bilo ih je 16 dece of jednog Vasila koji su svi bili Hromis i ziveli tu po vojvodini.
