| riglar: Iglár-Iglódy-Iglód-Nobility | I have found a copy of the grant of nobility to Lukacs Iglár. It shows the coat of arms which matches the coat of arms on an old canvas owned by a family member in Hungary.
On the canvas is the motto, "Iglódy Iglár Nagy Lukacs".
Iglár Nagy Lukacs is the name of the person receiving the grant, but what does "Iglódy" mean? A fellow researcher suggested that it means the noble was from a place called "Iglód," but I have been unable to find this place.
I know of Spisska Nova Ves in Slovakia (Szepes County, Hungary) which was called "Igló" but I don't know if that is a match here especially with "d" at the end.
My most recent generations come from Frydman, Poland which was in Szepes County, Hungary and the other "Iglár" families come from Abaujker, Abauj-Torna County--I don't know if that could be a clue. |
