| EAGLE RTP: Re: Jancsurák család | Sajovamos and Miskolc are in Hungary, correct?
My research stops at Gyrogy Jancsurak, born November 1836 in Vorosvagas (now Cervenica, Slovakia). He was a lutheran, so his records were in the Lutheran Parish in Ofalu (now Opina, Slovakia). His father is Gyorgy Jancsurak and mother is Anna Bodnar or Bochnad.
No other entries were found for these individuals except for a son, Andras Istvan Jancurak, born to Gyorgy the younger in Nagy Saros (now Velki Saris, Slovakia) with mother Dorothea Kovaly of Soovar (now Solivar, Slovakia).
Perhaps you could tell me about the surname. Does it mean anything? My interpretation of it is, well, interesting... You may be able to clarify for me.
So far as I can tell, only two Jancsurak families emigrated to the United States. They both came from the Kosice area, but further east than my own ancestral cities. |
