Juhanjak: looking for villages
I am looking for a village Zolyommiklos in Hungary where originally Janos Juhanjak came from. I am also looking for anyone that knows anything about this family. Any information about the town, location, pictures would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Juhanjak

The village of Zolyommiklos would be in old Zolyom megye http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 and now it is called Detvianska Huta. http://mapy.atlas.sk
The Slovak Republic's phone book is listing JUHANIAK (same pronounciation as Juhanjak)but none in Detvianska Huta. Use 0 (zero) in area code to get all the phone listings for this surname.

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) is listing church records of Detvianska Huta which you can order and gather ancestral information.
There were 5 JUHANJAKs,5 JUHANYAKs, and 1 JOHENYAKs that came thru Ellis Island www.ellisislandrecords.org which you might want to take a look at the manifests.
From a site www.obce.info the village of Detvianska Huta has 788 inhabitants.

Juhanjak

If you use One Step/Gray form for locating an Ellis Island manifest www.stevemorse.org from village Zolyommiklos came 36 people and among them a JUHAMAK and ZUHYANAK. I think those are transcribed incorrectly. While you are in the site take a look at FUHANJAKs, JOHANNAHs, JUHANYJAKs and a TUHANIEK (Juhaniek)manifests. They were from Zolyommisklos /Zolyommikles / Zolyommusiklos / Zolyomnuklos. A variety of misspellings for Zolyommiklos.
