rosecro: Juhas/Juhasz geneology
Hello I am on a quest to find living relatives in Hungary
and elsewhere. My grandfather, Janos Juhasz was born in
Vilyvitany, Hungary in 1889. He emmigrated to the U.S.
and settled in Buffalo for a time. Then moved to Tonawanda
N.Y. where he married Agnes Behon and had a son, my father
John Juhas. My grandfather dropped the z later. I wish I knew how to reach city records in Vilyvitany to find out
if he had brothers or sisters. My father doesn't think he
had, but not sure. Thank you.

Hi Peter, Koszonom nagyon szepen hogy irtal. This is my
first ever e-mail from Hungary. It's great! I wish I had more information to tell. My grandfather was born the same
year but he died in Tonawanda, New York around 1940. I did
find out through some contacts in the States that he might have come over with a brother, had a disagreement, then
went their separate ways, with my grandfather going to
Buffalo, New York. I am not sure when my grandfather came to America. My father is still alive (78) so I'll see if
I can come up with anything more. It's very difficult to
go back so many years. There are thousands of Juhasz's out
there, some related, some not, but we all came from somewhere didn't we? I do have relatives in Hungary yet
and still keep in touch with them. Feel free to write
anytime. Rose viszontlatas a messze tavabol

Vennessa

You need to locate a name of a town for your ancestor in order to connect with any other JUHAS / JUHASZ in this world.
Start the family tree with what you know : YOU : and then go backwards until you come upon an ancestor that came from the "old country".

Here is a map of Austria-Hungary :
http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/austhung.htm
www.rat.de/kuijsten/navigator
http://vivisimo.com
www.imrehun.com

The LDS-Mormons (Family History Center) have filmed the church records but you need to know the name of a village and religious orientation of your ancestor to order them.
Those church records will tell you if your great grandfather had any siblings.

rosecro: Juhasz/Juhas
Venessa from Australia, Greetings from Ontario, Canada
My name is Rose, and I too am on a quest to establish lineage in Hungary and to fid out if there are living relatives remaining. My grandfather, John Juhasz came from
Vilyvitany, near the Slovakia border, a small town of about 350 people and a history of 800 years. His parents
were John Juhasz and Maria Orosz.(my great-grandparents)
My grandfather was born in 1889. I don't have an exact year when he came to the States and I don't know for a fact if he came out with a brother or not. My father
has no idea either. So much time passed. I am also trying
to find out if my great-grandparents had any siblings
to keep the line going. Anyway, I'm off track here...
My grandfather settled in Buffalo for a while and got
married, but his wife and child died in childbirth.
He then made his home in Tonawanda, New York. Married my
grandmother, Agnes Behony and had my father, John Juhasz in
1925. My grandfather died in 1949 at the age of 60.
When my dad was young, grandpa dropped the z off the last name. That's about all I know right now but I keep searching. I've been in touch with several people to see if our stories correlate. Oh I forgot, grandpa had a sister
who lived in Tonawanda. N>Y> USA but communication was almost non-existent. ONe day my dad was sitting in a bar
and was looking at the guy across from him and said. Excuse me,
but you look alot like me". They turned out to be
cousins and didn't even know. Life is full of surprises!
Grandpa's sisters name was Rose(Juhasz) and married a Lucas
may be a z at the end not sure. Well good luck in your search and feel free to e-mail me anytime.
Sincerely, Rose Crosby

Hi Rose from Canada,

It makes me laugh about the name John, in my family it is a name that is very common, and with family members looking alike we have a lot girls with blond hair blue eyes, you can put all the girls photo's at the same age and we look so alike but with the men of our family the brown hair blue is very strong, we have a keeper of the family stories that is sending me a copy of family tree and stories we know that we are missing one line of the family when my great grandfather come to this country he own a ship his wife was Rose Toemore(I think that is the spelling) they had 2 sons with them when they come to Australia and then went on and had 5 boys and 1 girl , and that a brother went to the USA

Dear Agnes
My name is Behon Nikolett.
My grandfather Behon Pál, 77 year, Hungary Kimle.
Grandfater's son Péter Pál, and daugther Ilona, granddaugther Eszter, I, grandson István, and great-grand child Gyulus.
I'm sorry, to smatter in english, I'm take to writing hungrian.

Marsha: Maria Juhasz
I am trying to locate my 88 year old mother-in -law's lost mother. Her name was Mary Yuhas or Juhasz. There are so many variations on the names that it is overwhelming to locate someone.
Mary or Maria was born in the village of Lelesz? or Leles, Hungary, on September 21, 1884. I only know that her family was Catholic, and that both her parents died when she was a young girl. Her Uncle Joseph or Jozsef, or Josef brought her to America in 1902. She then worked as a maid-servant in Elyria, Ohio. Later, she married and had a family of six children.
My mother-in- law Margaret is her last living child. Margaret never knew her grandparents names. I would love to give her this gift of finding her mother's Baptismal or birth certificate, but it seems like a danting task! Can someone make a miracle happen?
Thanks you, Marsha Bodnar marsbod31 -k-u-k-a-c- aol -p-o-n-t- com
