Peter Jura: Re: Yura/Jura
Hello,

my name is Peter Jura, I just read your message here in Radix. We are a very old, noble, hungarian family, but now we are just 4 of us, who are men and wearing this familyname. Our family comes from that part of (before-year 1920) Hungary, where some slavic people were also living. I checked that village where your grandfather supposed to come, that is now in Slovakia, but before 1920 it was belonging to Hungary too, and I think it is possible your family and mine has relation somehow, because of the not huge distance between our possibly origin. I would like to know more about your roots, could you send me some information?

Thank you in advance.
Best wishes
Peter Jura

John Yura: Re: Yura/Jura
Peter,
How are you today? My fathers parents came from Ortutova, this I know for sure. I don't know much after that. It's just bits and pieces of some things that my father told me when I was a kid. We are related to the Sokals. There was a cousin that stayed in the old country, that was a priest in the Orthadox Church. I think his name was Peter. I know that the Yura's were in Ironwood, Mich. working in the iron mines. There's a story about one Yura, that got caught in a mine cave in, and was buried up to his waist. I know that this may not mean anything to you, but if have heard some of these stories in your lifetime. Maybe we can help each other. John Yura

Are you in contact with Lubomir JURA that shows up in Ortutova's phone book? www.zoznamst.sk

Zlatica,
I'm in a bit of a problem. I don't speak and or write Czech. My father never taught me, and I have never tried to learn it at this point. What can I do to translate these sites that you have pointed me to? Thank you for your help. I know that I wouldn't be even close to these places without your help. Hope you had a Happy Fourth of July. This is a picture of my Grandmother, and her two oldest sons(Andrew and George). John Y.

Just wanted to make sure that you knew about my posts. So far I was not notified about yours but I go on several boards without being notified.
The language would be Slovak not Czech.

Village Ortutova has 198 inhabitants. The mayor happens to be an IVANC^OVA (ova is a female ending). It uses Kurima's zip code 086 12, which goes before a town in the address.

Peter,
I hope that you will see this, and write once again. Sorry about the long delay, you can email me directly at tireman0654 -k-u-k-a-c- aol -p-o-n-t- com . Yes, our families are related. My father was the son of George, who married Anna Ivanco. His grandfather married to Anna Gmitro. I am pretty sure that we are talking about the same family. How far back can you trace the Jura Family? I hope that this finds you well, and that your family is doing well also. I look forward to hearing from you.
