Take a look in Ellis Island website for the people named KERNYA. 14 of them did pass thru EI and most of them were from Dusnok and Vaszar. Both towns are in Hungary. I have searched and searched to find people with this last name and the only thing I could come up with were all living in the US. I do know that I am Hungarian and that my grandparents parents came over here from Hungry. I would be thrilled to talk to any of you cause some where down the line we are related. As far as I know my family are the only Kernya's in Australia, my Dad, his two brothers and one sister. I wonder if any of us are realated? A 1907-es János és a 1911 Katalin úgy tudom az ő testvérei. Nyomozok utánuk az egyébb bevándorlási utvonalakon , de a neten sajnos nem található meg minden. Azt nagyon megköszönném ha tundál arról valamilyen infót hogy honnan ered a Kernya név mit jelenthet stb. Nem sikerült találnom ez ügyben még semmit csak annyit sejtek hogy a világ összes Kernyája magyarországról való. Üdv! (most Ave.!) Lorain Oh. A kinti barátnak csak a családnevét (Hodován) tudtam elolvasni. A lakcíme: Lorain (Ohio), Grove str. 59. (Ma már Grove Ave!) Ebben a keresőben településnévre is lehet keresni: http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/eidb/ellis.html A névről annyit mondanék, hogy az összes környékbeli Kernya eredetileg Sükösdről származik. Már az 1715-ös sükösdi adóösszeírásban szerepel "Lucas Chernics". Ugyanő 1731-ben sükösdi bíró volt. Ez utóbbi jegyzékben már Kernya Lukács néven írták.
