| bmsisko: KERTESZ | While researching my ancestors SISKA, HORVATH, & NEMES, from
Damoc & surrounding area (which includes Nagytarkany)I find a Juliana Kertesz, b.1837 married to Istvan Szabo living in
Damoc during the 1857 census. Further, while investigating
MITRO from the same village I found one was meeting her uncle, Josef KERTESZ, in Perth Amboy NJ in 1914.(On Ellis Island) Further investigation of KERTESZ leads to this name
emigrating from Leanyvar, KisDobra,Revleanyvar,and Cseke, all place names surrounding Damoc & Tarkany. If your relative was Roman Catholic, they were probably married in
NagyTarkany, which seems to have had the only RC church in the area during that time period. Damoc had the Greek Catholic Church.
