	Vivian: KOHN/Szobrancz Attached is a picture of my great-grandmother Sali (Sara) KOHN MOSKOVITS. She was born in 1846 and died in Michalovce in 1924. She was married to Markusz MOSKOVITS and lived in Szobrancz. This picture was taken in Budapest about 1910. Az üzenethez ez a kép is kapcsolódik. I dont know if you were of Jewish Heritage but our family is... 	Vivian Kahn: Re: KOHN/Szobrancz I have no idea where my great-grandmother Sali KOHN was born but suspect that it was somewhere in what is now eastern Slovakia because that's where my great-grandfather's MOSKOVITS family lived. All I know is that Sali (aka Sara, Czili) was born in 1846 (according to her death record) and died in Michalovce, Czech. in May 1924. Records found in the Uzhgorod archives refer to some males who were probably Sali's father or brothers. There is an Izsak KOHN listed as witness or rabbi to birth of one son in 1865 and Mozes KOHN listed as witness or rabbi to birth of another son in 1881. Does this help? It was the first town settled in Hungary by the Huns when the Romans gave them the land so they would stop fighting...It was over four hours to get there from Budapest !!! That is where my father was born. I'm not sure how a young lady from here would have met a young man from Szobrancz, which appears to be about 75 km away. 	kelin: Re: KOHN/Szobrancz My grandmother was born in 1900. She was Kohn as well. Her mother name's - according to the birth record - Kohn Berta. 	Viviane: KOHN/Sobrance I just returned from a three week trip to Hungary and Slovakia including visits to Sobrance and Michalovce. According to records in Michalovce, the parents of Sali Kohn were Izak (Benjamin Yitzhak) KOHN and Anna LEFKOVIC. My grandfather was a doctor Julius Knapp, we know nothing about his family at all except my other grandmother met him in the hospital where she worked. My great grandfather was David kohn..together with my grandmother they had 13 children.. Mozes b. 1839, Abraham b. 1841, Julius b. 1843, Sali (my ggm) b. 1846, Lajb b. 1848, Lipot b. 1855, Markus b. 1857, Armin (Herman) b. 1859, and Szidonia (Czili) b. 1861 Sali married Markusz MOSKOVITS and lived in Ostrov and Michalovce. Lipot emigrated to the US in 1912 and settled in Cleveland. Szidonia married Herman STERN from Tarczal and had a son Abraham b. 1884.
