Hi

Do I count as anybody? I suppose you are looking for some information on the surname KOLDOS? Right?

There was a Jan KOLDOS that passed thru Ellis Island to America and he was from Likovka which is Likavka, Slovak Republic. Looking over his manifest, his surname looks more like Holdos. It is. The surname Holdos' lists in Likavka's phone book.
There is a listing for KOLDOS (with dots on both Os) in Velke Kapusany, Slovak Republic.

Koldos

You need to locate a precise place of birth in the Borsa / Borsod megye.
http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910 click on Borsod
A first name translation website www.fam.aust.com/topolcsany/names as Michael would be Mihaly in Hungarian. Under what spelling is your grandfather KOLDOS's manifest?

cody: krusz
My mother's family name is Krusz. We have a number of old pictures of the family and they look very Hungarian (there's no other way to put it!), rather than polish or german, which we at first believed they were. Looking on this site I found that there were in fact people with our name in Hungary

If anyone knows anything about this name or has any information, please reply, I've been trying to figure this out for ages now

thank you

You need to backtrack and find a place of birth for the first ancestor that came to America.

Carolyn Koldos: Koldos Balog or Szalonna Hungary
I am looking for any information on my family. In 1924 my father was living with his grandparents, named Balog,(Balogh?) in Szalonna Hungary. His parents names were Eresbet? - not sure of the spelling (Elizabeth?)Balog, who met and married Mihaly Koldus (Koldos)in USA. They both came to USA through Ellis Island in the 1890's. Eresbet had a brother, Stephen? and a nephew Zoltan (Balog), who came to USA and lived in Connecticut. According to Ellis Island records, Eresbet Balog was going to Pasaik New Jersey to visit a Cousin. She Married Mihaly Koldus in New York, and lived in Pennsylvania then Michigan USA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
