Today, most members of the Family living in Hungary or originating from Hungarian speaking areas after 1844-1849 follow the “Kubinyi” spelling of the name with the family name in first place followed by the Christian or given name in the case of those living in Hungary and the reverse, that is Christian name first followed by the family name in the case of those living outside the jurisdiction of Hungary. Amongst those members of the family who have originated from predominantly non-Hungarian speaking areas of the country, the commonest versions of the surname that may be encountered are Kubin (especially in German speaking areas where the “von” prefix has been dropped), and Kubinsky, Kubinzky, or Kubinszky (especially in Slav speaking areas).
