Pam Wylder: Meszaros

My grandmother, Katalin Varga, emigrated from Osli, Sopron, Austria-Hungary, in 1905. Her mother's maiden name was Borbala Meszaros, and her father's name was Laszlo Varga. He was deceased at the time Borbala emigrated with her children Vilmos (b. 1889), Pal (b. 1896), Katalin (b. 1899), and Roza (b. 1901). There were several other children, including Agnes (b. 1884). I'm hoping to find more information on this family.

Sarika: MESZAROS family disrtirct IX Budapest

Hello I am Sarika Meszaros searching for my fathers family (Sandor (Alec) Meszaros August 26 1940).

My father was sent to New Zealand around from Budapest around 1959, I think the family lived in Pest and in district IX.

I beleive my Grandmothers name to be Etol (bad spelling sorry) born 6th of either March or May 1914.

Dad was sent to New Zealand with a brown Hungarian Bible with faded names and dates in the back cover (family names). So of it was very faded so some of the following details as in spelling and months maybe incorrect.

Anyu March or May 6th 1914
Thoresi March or May 23rd 1939
Sandor (maybe Alec my Dad) 26th August 1940
Gyuszi Jan, June or July 22nd 1944
Imre Nov 30th 1946
Moniko Feb 3rd 1949
Eto Oct 3rd 1950
Loszsiko Jan, June or July 1957

I was told my Grandmother died approximately 23 years ago in Budapest. I am not sure if any of my Dads siblings left Hungary for other countires at all.

I have 3 brothers Sandor, Lazslo, Darry and me Sarika. I have 2 nephews and 2 neices all live in New Zealand. I currently live in Australia.

Dad past away and I am heading to Hungary in 2008 to celebrate my 30th and to take my Father home. If anyone has any sort of information please send it to me not matter what it is smeszaros -k-u-k-a-c- bigpond -p-o-n-t- com
I would appreciate any help I could get.

The Meszaros surname is a common one in Hungary, you will have a hard and long research to contact some of yours relatives.
May help a bit on your research the correct spelling of all yours Hungarian names:
Alec, Alexander = Sandor
The closest for Etol is Etelka, but for her you must find from somewhere her family name, so how she was named before marring.
Gyuszi is the short for Gyula
Imre is correct
Moniko could be Monika or Marika, this last one is the short for Maria.
Eto or Eta, is the short for Etelka,
Loszsiko could be Rozsika (the short for Rozalia), or Jozsika, which is the short for Jozsef.
Whit a bit of lucky someone from your relatives will read too this messages and you will have a fixed connection before your European trip.

Dédnagyanyám Mészáros Julianna, aki házas volt Drávucz Mihállyal.Valószínüleg az 1770-es vagy 60-as években született, mivel a nagyapám 1892-ben született, és nem Ő volt a legidősebb a gyermekek között.A születési helyét sem tudom, sem azt hogy mikor halt meg.
