| Maria Mikolics: Nyúl Tóth of Kecskemét Nagykőrös | My grandmother was Mária NYÚL-TÓTH b. 1911. Her parents were Gyula NYÚL (TÓTH) b. 1884 Kecskemét and Terézia MAJOR b. 1892 Kerekegyháza. Parents of Gyula NYÚL-TÓTH were Menyhért NYÚL(TÓTH) b. c1848 (possibly in Kocsér) and Eszter MARSA b. 1850 Kecskemét. In addition to Gyula, other children of Menyhért and Eszter were Mária NYÚL b. 1876 Nagykőrös and Gáspár Menyhért NYÚL b. 1880 Nagykőrös. As birth records for Mária and Gáspár show their surname as NYÚL it is possible that this was the original name. Oral history is that the name became hyphenated as NYÚL- TÓTH to differentiate the family from others living in the area.
