I don't know where the name came from, perhaps the people in the phone book can tell you. It's not common in Hungary, I could only find 3 other Palomby records, all in the eastern part of the country, one is in Ungvar/Uzhorod which today falls into Ukraine, from the Ellis Island arrival records:
