jean1680: Remenar
For genealogic research purposes, I am trying to find information about my great grandfather, Martin Remenar, and his parents, siblings, or other relatives. My great grandfather was born in what is now Dolne Dubove in Slovakia. I don't know if it had a different name when it was part of Hungary. My grandfather, Stephan Remenar, was born around 1875 in Dolne Dubove, so Martin would have been born in the mid 1800's.

The SK's phone site format has changed. No more English version.
www.zoznamst.sk
Bill Tarkulich's site got better.
www.iabsi.com/gen/public
I would say that ggrandmother's maiden name was SOKOL, Maria.

jean1680: Re: Remenar
I have been able to get some information on my ggrandfather and gggrandfather through the Slovak National Archives.
I have also received information from an individual regarding probably the first Remenar to move to Dolne Dubove. That was in the early 1700's. He was from Radosovce, which is a nearby village.
If anyone has Remenar relatives who are from Radosovce, I have some information on that branch of the Remenar family also.
The first mention of the name Remenar in that area was in the 1600's.
