Geri: Kovacvagas
I am looking for anyone related to Josef Roth from Kovacsvagas Hungary. He was supposed to have lived till almost one hundred years old. He died before World War Two. He had family in Ujhel and a brother in Budapest.

Does anyone know how I can get his death certificate or any info in him. He was a landowner.

There was also a sister or brother in New York in 1935.

Geri Roth: Re: Kovacvagas
Thank you. I have brought in the Parish records on Kovacavagas to the Los Angeles Morman Library. I doubt if they will be of any help. Josef Roth was Jewish so I do not think he would be included. Do you know how I could find records if he was Jewish. Also I have a birth date. August 1st 1837. I do not where in Hungary he was born, but how could I get hios birth certificate? Also He died August 21st, but I do not have the year. It would have been in the 1920's or early 1930's. He was supposed to have lived to be at least 100 years old. I know he died in Kovacsvagas. How can I possibly get his death certificate if I do not have the exact year. Where would I write?

I will not give up on this. All help welcome.
Thank you Geri

Hello Bed Roth,
Thank you for the e-mail.
At this time I do not know of a connection to your Roth's in Nagy-Kerek.
Roth was a common name at that time in Hungary.
I keep all Roth related e-mails so if I come up with anything or can connect you to anyone I will do so.
I am awaiting a death certificate on my great grandfather Jozsef Roth. I will hopefully know more after I receive it and fins out where he was born and who his parents were.

Suzanne: Where is Makaria?
My grandfather Jan Hermann Roth emigrated from Hungary to the U.S. in about 1910. He has listed his place of origin as Makaria, Austria. I found a Makaria in Felvidéki járás but nothing else. We thought he was from Muncaks but this is the place listed on the ship list and on his naturalization papers. Would Makaria be used in place of Muncaks? On the same ship manifest, other people were listed as being from Muncaks so I don't think it was a mistake. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Was Makarove or Makariv (are they the same?) part of Hungary at one time? I've looked at the information about it and it seems to be very much Ukranian or Russian. Is it very far from Mukachevo?

Thank you for answering the question. Maybe we can solve this mystery and find some information about relatives over there. I believe that Elias Roth, born in 1851, is my great-grandfather who went to the U.S. and then returned to Hungary.
